Food education: freedom begins in the shopping cart
In short? Choosing what we eat, how we move, and what we prioritize in our daily lives can truly improve our quality of life.
During the interview, we discussed several key points:
- Eating is a political and cultural act: not just a physiological need. It’s the most direct way we invest in our health and in the planet’s future.
- The price of food is often distorted by a flawed perception of its value: we’re willing to pay for gadgets and streaming services, but see high-quality extra virgin olive oil as too expensive. This is a cultural paradox we must overcome.

- Food education must become a priority: in schools, media, and institutions. Knowledge is essential for making informed choices. Otherwise, trends, marketing hype, and oversimplified messages win.
- Lifestyle matters just as much, if not more, than food: sedentary habits, stress, lack of sleep, and inactivity affect us just as much as what we eat. But if no one teaches us, how can we learn?

Without education, there is no awareness. And without awareness, there is no real freedom of choice.
Every daily act, from what we put in the cart to how we spend our time, has a direct impact on our health, our communities, and the world we live in. It’s time to recognize that, and act.
