Technology for balanced lifestyles: my vision on Entrepreneur UK

The pursuit of a balanced lifestyle is a challenge that has spanned centuries. Today, however, technological advancements such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and wearable devices are transforming how individuals approach their well-being. Instead of relying on trendy superfoods, restrictive diets, or rigid fasting techniques, technology provides access to comprehensive education and tailored strategies.

During the interview, I emphasized that precision nutrition—informed by data on metabolism, genetics, lifestyle, and even environmental factors—enables individuals to make conscious, well-informed decisions. Wearable devices can now monitor caloric intake, nutrient quality, blood glucose levels, and physical activity in real-time, while also assessing environmental conditions such as air quality. This holistic approach contrasts sharply with current public policies, which often focus on taxing specific foods or labeling them as inherently good or bad.

These policies, while politically appealing, are largely ineffective because they impose a one-size-fits-all solution on a multifactorial issue. Obesity, for instance, is not merely a matter of sugar, fat, or alcohol consumption; it is rooted in moderation, lifestyle choices, and the unique needs of each individual. Prescriptive approaches, such as Nutri-Score labels and taxation on specific ingredients, fail to educate and instead dictate consumer behavior without fostering autonomy.

I also highlighted the economic and cultural consequences of such policies, which often penalize local producers and farmers. For example, a traditional Tuscan business may be forced to reformulate a product to avoid taxation, or farmers in developing countries could be negatively impacted when ingredients like palm oil are stigmatized. These measures not only harm small producers but also challenge the diversity and accessibility of food choices.

Technology, when properly utilized, acts as a bridge between knowledge and accessibility. It democratizes information, offering real-time insights that help individuals craft personalized diets and adopt balanced lifestyles. The key is to ensure that technology serves the people, enabling freedom of choice rather than imposing rigid dietary norms.

In conclusion, the future of balanced lifestyles lies not in prescriptive regulations but in empowering individuals with the tools to make their own informed choices. You can read the full interview on Entrepreneur UK at the link below.
